Melbourne Art Fair Features Emerging Talent

The Affordable Art Fair is returning to Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building on August 27 – 30, 2026. 70 local and international galleries are participating in this year’s event, featuring some of Australia’s brightest burgeoning and established artists. There will be thousands of original artworks on display — all available to purchase and take home on the day.

One of the participating galleries is In-land Gallery, which represents artists with practices rooted in a connection with the Australian setting. Christine Goerner, a Melbourne-based photographic artist, is one of the artists represented by In-land Gallery. Her work translates nature’s patterns, textures, and palettes into evocative dreamscapes.

Another gallery participating in the fair is Brunswick Street Gallery, which has been consistently uncovering inspiring new talent since 2005. Their artists on show include Jessie Rose Ford, a local contemporary oil painter and botanical artist, whose paintings distill moments of awe in the setting through gesture, mark making, and a mesmerising use of golden colour.

Ruby Bovill’s paintings are inspired by natural settings, encouraging quiet contemplation and reflection on connection to place. Jules Bulleid, a contemporary setting painter living in Western Australia, draws on her previous farming life and journeys through the outback, but often develops into otherworldly interpretations.

Affordable Art Fair’s Discover: Young Talent platform celebrates the next generation of creative voices. Among them is Anna Walsh, an emerging Australian artist based in Moama, NSW, whose work showcases detailed, hand-rendered designs that draw from the Australian setting.

Ariella Weinmann is a Melbourne-based artist whose oil paintings quietly capture the beauty of everyday objects. Working primarily in still life, her compositions reference moments of familiarity, thoughtfully arranged to evoke a sense of stillness and balance.

Good Work Gallery, another participant, believes materials are more than just a means to an end — they’re storytellers in their own right. The gallery’s artists are therefore united by a shared passion for materiality and form, challenging traditional genres, and inviting audiences to engage with art on a tactile level.

The fair will take place from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, VIC.
