Wall bars, typically found in gyms, have been repurposed to serve a dual function behind a bathroom vanity. This innovative design combines bathroom storage with a wall-mounted fitness system, allowing towels, mirrors, shelves, and toiletries to share space with exercise gear.

Mattia Pareschi designed Scavolini’s Gym Space, featuring wooden bars that stretch from the floor to the ceiling. These bars support various items around the sink, while another area is dedicated to fitness equipment like rings, suspension straps, a traction bar, and an exercise bench. Pareschi’s goal was to create a practical and multi-functional space.

The innovative aspect of this design lies in its ability to combine two distinct functions on a single wall, eliminating the need for separate storage or a dedicated workout area. The same grid system that holds towels near the sink can also support exercise equipment just a short distance away, making this shared wall the centerpiece of the design.

Dark wooden rails run along the wall behind a floating vanity, providing attachment points from the floor up to above the mirror. Towels are hung on small hooks, and boxes store toiletries and plants, all without the need for an additional cabinet near the sink. This rail system creates a sense of openness in the space.

A broader perspective reveals that the rail system extends beyond the tall cabinet into a workout area. The left section houses fitness equipment such as rings, suspension straps, a traction structure, and an exercise bench, while the right side remains dedicated to towels and bathroom storage, showcasing the design’s integrated approach.

There is no physical barrier between the bathroom and workout areas, and no additional storage system is required for the gym equipment. Both zones utilize the same wall-bar structure, allowing a single wall to accommodate exercise, personal care, towels, and toiletries, thus removing the need for separate spaces.

Fitness equipment is organized in one section of the grid, with workout accessories concentrated on the left side, away from the sink area. Black rings and straps are suspended from an upper frame, and the exercise bench is positioned below, ensuring a tidy arrangement.

Towels and toiletries hang wherever the grid allows, with towels hanging at two heights, green bottles sitting inside shallow containers, and a planter fitting below an open wall box. The sink counter stays almost empty apart from a few bottles and a vase. The storage system is flexible.

Accessories are attached across multiple rails, allowing for storage in narrow spaces beside the mirror that would typically go unused in a standard cabinet setup. This design is versatile, functioning effectively even without gym equipment. The wall bars can extend behind two floating vanities, providing storage for mirrors, lights, towels, shelves, bottles, and planters.

The open rail design keeps the tiled wall visible between accessories, avoiding the need for full-depth cabinetry. Two dark vanities offer enclosed storage below, while items used near the sinks are kept on the grid above, resulting in a clean and efficient space.
